The Hamptons, New York – a corporate and celebrity playground. The Hamptons is the name given to the south fork of eastern end of Long Island and is located some 160 km east of New York City.

Southampton and East Hampton, having historically been the heart of the Hamptons scene, and the Hamptons are generally regarded as the most wealthy and exclusive area in the entire United States (and possibly the world), with a large share of corporate executives, notable celebrities, trendsetters, and millionaires and billionaires owning homes in the area.

The other Hamptons communities: Bridgehampton, Watermill, Amagansett, Sagaponeck, and Montauk, Hampton Bays, Quogue, Westhampton ("West of the canal" is now become one of the fastest growing areas), are just as well known.  Each village with their own character, well known beaches, magnificent homes, along exclusive high-end retail.  Exciting, award winning restaurants (where getting a weekend dinner table is much about who you know) help define the Hamptons reputation and are an essential part of its international draw.

The term ”Hamptons” is regarded not merely a geographical area, but more of a state of mind and definition of a quality of lifestyle. The Hamptons is more than just the corporate, celebrity and resort playground for New York City, it also draws a large number of summer residents from Connecticut, Miami and Palm Beach, Florida, Los Angeles and other areas around the country.

East Hampton has even gained the nickname of ”Hollywood East”, due to the large number of persons in the film industry who have their homes there (many year-round).
